Questions veterans ask us
What VETFI is, and what it isn't
FAQs
No to both. VETFI LLC is an independent private company. We are not the Department of Veterans Affairs, we are not a Veterans Service Organization, and we have no affiliation with, endorsement from, or sponsorship by the VA.
No. VETFI is not VA-accredited, and we do not prepare, file, review, or represent VA disability claims with or without a fee.
That work legally belongs to a VA-accredited VSO representative, claims agent, or attorney. It's available to you at no cost, and we'll point you to it. We teach you how the system works so you can make informed decisions and work effectively with the representative handling your claim.
A VSO representative acts on your behalf with the VA. That's a formal, accredited role, and it's the right one for your claim. VETFI works alongside that. We build the plan around your healthcare, education, finances, and career, and make sure you understand what's happening at each stage. Most of our clients use both.
You may not need to.
Free resources through the VA, accredited VSOs, and state and county veteran agencies are genuinely valuable, and we'd rather you understand them than not. We'll tell you where to find them.
VETFI is an optional paid service for veterans who want something those resources aren't built to provide: dedicated one-on-one time, structured education across the whole transition rather than just the claim, personalized planning, and someone who stays with you after the paperwork is done.
You're paying for our time and our education. You're not paying for access to your benefits. Those are yours already.
An educational and consulting service. Depending on what you choose, that includes one-on-one consultations, educational materials, a personalized transition roadmap, benefits and financial education, career planning, and ongoing support.
Your written agreement lists exactly what's included before you pay anything. If something isn't in it, don't assume it's included; ask.
The limits of what we do
No. There is no legitimate way for any company to guarantee a VA disability rating.
We don't control VA decisions and can't promise a rating, service connection, compensation amount, or effective date. The VA makes its decision based on law, evidence, examinations, and your individual circumstances.
Treat any company that promises you a specific rating as a warning sign.
No. We teach you how the VA disability process works in general terms: what a C&P exam is for, the stages, and how the system evaluates evidence. That's education.
What we will never do is tell you what to claim, coach you on what to say, or suggest you describe symptoms as anything other than what you actually experience. Your statements to the VA have to be truthful and your own. Anyone encouraging otherwise is putting your claim and your credibility at risk.
No. Lay statements have to come from the person making them, in their own words, based on their own experience. Medical opinions, nexus letters, and DBQs must be issued by a qualified healthcare professional acting within their scope of practice.
VETFI is not a medical provider and does not diagnose conditions, provide treatment, or issue medical opinions.
No. VETFI charges a flat fee, agreed in writing before you pay anything. We never take a percentage of your VA compensation, your back pay, or any increase in your rating.
Your VA compensation is yours.
You're paying for the educational services described in your agreement, not for a VA outcome, because that isn't ours to sell.
The VA decides independently of us. Before you purchase anything, decide whether the education and planning are worth it to you on their own. If the answer depends on getting a particular rating, this isn't the right service for you.

Practical questions and commitments
Yes. The initial consultation is free and carries no obligation.
Its purpose is to understand your goals, explain what we do, and honestly assess whether we can add value. Sometimes the answer is no, and we'll say so.
Â
It depends on your goals, but most clients have a clear plan within the first few sessions.
Yes, nationwide. Our education and coaching are delivered remotely, so location doesn't limit what we can do.
Never. We will not ask for your VA.gov credentials, and you should not give account passwords to any company that asks for them. For any reason.
Your accounts stay under your control.
Yes. We treat everything you share as confidential and limit access to the VETFI team working directly with you. We don't sell your information, and we don't share it outside VETFI except in limited situations: on the secure platforms we use to run our business, with a partner you've asked us to connect you with, or where we're legally required. Our Privacy Policy spells this out in full.
If you fall into any of these:
- You're already getting everything you need from free resources.
- You want someone to guarantee a rating.
- You want someone to make the decisions for you.
- You don't see enough value in personalized education to justify the cost.
We'd rather you decline after understanding what we do than buy something you don't need.
